Mediasite is an enterprise grade webcasting platform designed to automate the process of capturing, distributing, managing, securing and viewing multimedia content - via the desktop either live or on demand, or via CD, DVD, USB, portable HDD, i-Phone, i-Pod, PSP, Palm Pilot or SmartPhone.
The image below shows the automated workflow. Presenters do not need to learn new software to webcast their presentations, because Mediasite automates the whole process from capture to viewing - even live broadcast.
Originating in 1997 from Carnegie Mellon University but then acquired and lovingly developed since 2000 by Sonic Foundry - one of the most famous pioneers of digital media and survivors of the dot com crash, Mediasite is now used by over 1000 satisfied customers worldwide. Users include over 375 educational institutions for lecture recording and online courses, to numerous government agencies, defense contractors and world class corporations who deliver live or on demand information, training, updates, presentations and more - direct to hundreds and thousands of desktops simultaneously as opposed to attempting the same task using video conferencing.
Utilizing some of the core technology created by CMU during the Informedia II Project, Sonic Foundry are now demonstrating the latest in advanced rich media search technology on their site - Mediasite.com.
Mediasite.com (beta) is an advanced rich media search engine that automatically indexes thousands of publicly- available webcasts recorded with Mediasite, showcasing the latest developments in multimodal search including phonetics, OCR, language models and applying contextual analysis. Viewers can now search content based on keywords hidden in recorded media files and graphics, with amazing accuracy. Some of these amazing features are now being added to the Mediasite system we ship today. To find out more, watch this presentation.
JPL Media has deep roots in the digital media market and a long respected history with Mediasite and Sonic Foundry. In 1997, our founder - Julian Lefebvre, was one of the first people to introduce MP3 players to the market. Shortly afterwards, Julian introduced high brightness, high resolution digital projectors to the market, a journey that lead him into university lecture theaters & boardrooms. At that time, Julian recognised the need to record digital content from teaching rooms, boardrooms and training facilities for distribution to the desktop for distance education, knowledge sharing and training purposes. In 2004, Julian signed a distribution agreement to sell Mediasite in New Zealand, and then in 2005 - he joined Sonic Foundry as Director of Business Development for Asia Pacific. By 2007, Julian had created a market for Mediasite, which is now used in ground breaking ways by a number of leading universities in NZ, Australia, & Malaysia along with corporations & government agencies.
JPL Media continues to be the premier provider of Mediasite in Asia Pacific, with an enviable track record for customer satisfaction, knowledge and insight. Click here to view some of our Mediasite users in Australia & New Zealand.
